And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God”—Romans 12:2

A dear brother, friend and colleague can be heard while encouraging young men and women he mentors, “Get your mind right.” These next generation of leaders may be on the verge of breaking, of giving up, rather than pressing forward. Getting their minds right is not only for that moment, but it is a basic fundamental in our life’s journey.

The battleground of the mind makes or breaks us in our daily lives. The voice of world whispers “who do you think you are, you can’t do that, you can’t be that.” The world will take from us; discourage us; drain our spirit. The mind can cause us to fall into depression, be angry, or fail. It can even cause physical sickness.

At the same time, your most valuable asset is your mind. Renewing your mind is the first step to success. It’s transformational. When you renew your mind, you find new perspective, another way to look at your situation and circumstances, a way to turn struggles into opportunity. Refuse to accept negative thoughts—every champion, every leader, every successful person has felt the urge to quit. What separates them, is the will to succeed.

Resist the urge to quit. Don’t give up on your dream. Commit wholeheartedly. Follow through until you succeed. Fight on no matter the circumstances. If you can think it, you can believe it. If you believe it, you can commit to it. If you commit to it, you will reach it. If you believe, you can achieve. Get your mind right.
